On 17th February, the Take Five office team wore purple as part of a National Anti-Violence event, to raise awareness of violence against women and girls and to mark the 9th anniversary of Hollie Gazzard’s tragic death.
Our Operations Director, Carole, attended Gloucester Cathedral where a Knife Angel statue was placed in remembrance of those who have lost their lives to knife crime across the UK.
The breathtaking work of art is composed of 100,000 repurposed bladed items seized by police and weighs 3.5 tonnes at 27 feet high. Lots of organisations demonstrated their solidarity with the event by displaying purple balloons and related posters and banners. The cathedral and Gloucester’s King Square were lit up in purple lights.
Carole also met Nick from the Hollie Gazzard Trust who is turning tragedy into positive action by campaigning on coercive relationships and promoting the Hollie Guard personal safety app.
